Happy New Year!
Once again we are preparing to usher in a new year, but before 2015 is gone we will look back and reflect on the things we have accomplished in ministry such as annual events, discipleship, outreaches and special programs. Some of us use these as barometers to measure church and spiritual growth and we have a sense of fulfillment when we see our congregation’s attendance and participation. “Yet,” as we read in the gospel of John, “a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks…”
To intimately know Jesus we must experience a genuine encounter and learn to live His abundant life. We will then know what It means to pick up your cross daily and willingly follow Him. In the coming year I pray we are compelled to draw nearer to Jesus, striving to be more like Him and following where He leads. May the precious Lord show favor on you and bless you in the new year!
