Brethren,
Greetings in the enduring love of Jesus!
Life and ministry have been consumed with this global pandemic since it began in 2020. Yet, our assembly leadership have persevered in this season; and though some may still struggle, they continue to press on! Last year, we had some semblance of returning back with a successful turnout for the Messengers of the Cross rally in Elk Grove and an abbreviated Convention at Bethany Christian Center in Stockton. It was evident everyone wanted very much to be together again.
I would be remiss, if I presumed as leaders, that we did not experience inner struggles along the way; including a lack of confidence, and the challenges with the divisiveness of our decisions. The Apostle Paul exhorts,
“…you, Timothy, certainly know what I teach, and how I live, and what my purpose in life is. You know my faith, my patience, my love, and my endurance…14But you must remain faithful to the things you have been taught. You know they are true, for you know you can trust those who taught you.”
2 Tim 3:10,14
I am tremendously grateful, and proud, of the diligence and faithfulness of our assembly leaders during these difficult times. You have exemplified “resilient leadership”. Even when the doors to your churches were closed, you found the creativity and the resiliency to find other alternatives to reach your congregation, proclaim the gospel, and continue to minister effectively – to God be the glory!
I look forward to seeing all of you at this year’s convention, “Resilient Leadership”. Come expecting God to refresh and reinforce your ministry calling. May our Good Lord bless you.
Gratefully in His Service,
Rev. Ben Refuerzo
IAFB General Superintendent
